TINY TREASURES PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM

  • Tiny Treasures curriculum is based on current research and sound educational theories of early childhood learning and development.
  • We will provide a wide range of hands-on, interactive activities that allow children to use their unique learning styles to experiment and explore their surroundings.
  • Tiny Treasures curriculum will stimulate creativity, build a positive self-image and addresses the needs of the whole child.
  • We always encourage involvement of family members in each child's learning through literature and suggested activities.

I Am Special: 
The children will explore how each person in the world is unique and precious.  They will learn that their bodies can do many things such as run, jump, laugh, sing, and even make silly faces!  Feelings, friends, and families will also be touched on.

Homes to Live In:  People homes, animal homes...this theme is all about homes.  Children will learn about different kinds of homes, who builds homes, and what makes a home. 

Leaves and Trees:  This theme provides a wealth of information and activities about leaves, trees, and fall weather. 
Fall is in the air!!





October

Five Super Senses: 
Sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch are introduced to the children as their "Five Super Senses!"  The theme provides many opportunities for hands-on exploration and learning.


Capes & Wings:  Children love to pretend they have super powers!  Whether super sonic power comes from their bodies or their magic comes from a sparkley wand, children like to make believe their world is different than it really is.  This theme will allow them to soar with their imaginations!
       

On The Farm:  Teach the children where their food really comes from!  They will find out that farming is big business!  Typical farm animals, such as cows, horses, and pigs, will be covered in depth.

Animals in Winter:  Snuggle in for a fun theme covering hibernation, migration, and plenty of cold weather learning activities.  The children will learn how animals survive the winter in cold and snowy climates. 

Book Worms on the Go:  Learn about libraries and taking care of books.  We will focus on a favorite children's book author or illustrator each day in this theme.

Happy Harvest:  This theme is filled with information and activities about the symbols of fall such as scarecrows, corn, turkeys, and leaves.  A simple explanation of The First Thanksgiving wraps up the theme!!

Nice Mice-  Mace are interesting little creatures!  This theme includes facts about mice, from what they eat to the characters they have portrayed in children's books, fairy tales, and movies.

All My Feelings-  Everyone has feelings.  The children will learn about a variety of different feelings such as happiness, sadness, anger, love, and excitement!  Appropriate ways to handle difficult feelings are covered through group activities and discussion.

Filling Santa's Sleigh-  Baking, stockings, gifts, candles, trees, and other symbols of December holidays are introduced through discussions, activities, and creative art projects.





January

Polar Bears and Eskimos-  The children will learn that some areas of the world stay cold and wintery year around.  Information and activities about arctic animals, people, and even Eskimo Indian Olympics will provide plenty of snowy fun!

Our Global Friends-  Appreciation for all cultures will be the focus of this theme.  Chidren will branch out of their own little worlds to see how their global friends are different, yet very much the same as they are!

Kids in the Kitchen-  Kid-griendly kitchen tasks will be introduced in this theme!!  The children will prepare their own snacks and learn about nutrition and cooking through a variety of food-related games and activities.




February

Tropics in Winter-  We've reworked our jungle theme to bring some warmth to winter and invorporate more rainforest activities.  The children will learn fun jungle songs, play silly animal games, and hang out in the rainforest.

Treats for My Sweet-  This theme includes activities to celebrate Valentines's Day and National Heart Heaalth Month.  Hearts, love, and sweet things will be abundant!

Healthy Me-  February is Dental Health Month.  This theme includes activities that teach the children how to keep thier teeth and entire bodies as healthy as possible.



March

Changing Weather-   Spring is in the air!  Information about wind, spring weather, rain, storms, and rainbows is shared throughout this theme.  The children will be busy playing "in the clouds" in the dramatic play area while snacking on "rainbow"foods!

Wacky Week-  Things will go a little topsy-turvy during this theme!  The days will be full of slippery, slimy, jiggly, wiggly, fizzy, foamy fun!  The children will be encouraged to be their silliest selves ever!

Bunches of Bunnies-  Rabbits, eggs, chicks, and activities leading up to Easter fill this theme.  Many bunny facts are included, as well as plenty of hopping and movement opportunities.



April

April Showers-  Pull your sleeves up and prepare to be elbow-deep in spring learning activities!  Puddles, mud, storms, rain, clouds, and gardening are topics covered in this theme.

Sail Away-  Ahoy Matee!  Float along with this aquatic transportation theme.  It covers water-related modes of travel, as well as plenty of water table fun!  You will see several pirate activities pop up as well!  Arrrgghh!!

Birds in Spring-  Birds are very busy in the spring.  Feathers fly as they build nests, lay eggs, and care for their babies!  The children will learn to appreciate the beauty of birds!
